Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayOscars 2025: See How Demi Moore Commemorated Surprising Best Actress Loss
Goldie Hawn proved she can make light of anything life throws her way.
As the Laugh-In alum presented the award for Best Animated Feature and Best Animated Short alongside Andrew Garfield at the 2025 Oscars March 2, she jokingly enlisted the Amazing Spider-Man alum’s help to read the teleprompter, and shared she is suffering from a chronic eye condition.
“Sweetheart, can you read that?” Goldie lightheartedly asked Andrew during the live broadcast from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. “I can’t read that.”
The Private Benjamin star—who is mom to Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson with ex Bill Hudson, as well as son Wyatt Russell, whom she shares with partner Kurt Russell—explained, “I’m completely blind. I mean, I am! Cataracts.”
Andrew came to Goldie's rescue and read the remainder of her lines as the audience laughed along. By the end of their segment, the duo had presented In the Shadow of the Cypress with Best Animated Short and Flow with Best Animated Feature. (See every winner from the evening here.)
While presenting with the legendary comedic actress, the We Live In Time star also took the moment to laud Goldie for her impact on the industry, and even on someone in his own life.
“There’s someone, there’s a person, who gave my mother during her life, the most joy, the most comfort,” Andrew detailed, holding Goldie’s hand tightly, “and tonight I feel very lucky because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn.”
Goldie, visibly moved by Andrew’s surprising gesture, placed the winner’s envelope over her face as the audience erupted in applause. She gushed, “Thank you sweetie.”
And Andrew continued to detail how his late mother Lynn Garfield, who died in 2019, would feel seeing her son presenting with her hero.

“I can feel her smiling at us in this moment,” the 41-year-old continued. “You’ve given us movies full of joy. You’ve lifted our spirits and you made us feel that all was right with the world, over and over and over again.”
To which Goldie gushed, “I just loved it, you know? I just loved making movies and this amazing Hollywood and making people laugh and maybe some didn’t but that’s okay.”
