SS27 is shaping up to be a season of unapologetic allure, and Antonin Tron’s Balmain show was no exception. Staged in a gilded Parisian salon, the collection drew on two distinct influences: the maison’s haute couture heritage and Tron’s contemporary interpretation of glamour. The result was a vision of grown-up chic that felt glossier, more confident and distinctly cinematic.

Tiger and leopard prints in metallic finishes appeared on ruched, off-the-shoulder dresses, corseted slips and designs with gathered side panels. Plunging blazer dresses, cinched at the waist, brought a sharper edge, while python-print satin shirts and floral lamé blouses were worn open at the neckline with delicate chain lariats and paired with sleek pencil skirts.

Tailoring and texture added a sense of toughness to the collection; broad, structured shoulders defined everything from black satin safari-style suits to distressed brown leather trenches. Glossy coats in olive, marigold and royal purple were layered over sheer blouses and sheen finish trousers, while satin bomber jackets in mauve, mint and burnt orange introduced a more relaxed, off-duty feel. Sensuality came through in the use of cut-outs, slits and sheer fabrics, particularly in a black lace halter-neck dress with an asymmetric opening across the upper torso.

The colour palette moved from earthy olive, tobacco and gold to unexpected accents of acid green, lilac and pale mint. Deep purple and burnt orange satin added further richness, bringing together a palette that felt luxurious and modern without appearing overly polished.

Accessories brought the looks together, with sculptural silver cuffs, shield sunglasses, tasselled clutches, jewel-encrusted evening bags and oversized slouchy totes. Wet-look hair complemented the collection’s attitude, while strappy sandals and pointed pumps in metallic and animal-print finishes completed the silhouettes.

At Balmain, Tron explored a form of glamour that feels both powerful and effortless. By balancing sensuality with strong tailoring and a more relaxed approach to dressing, the collection offered a modern take on the maison’s enduring codes.
