Final Jeopardy Wagers and Winner for July 8

In a rarity, every contestant got the Final Jeopardy clue right in the July 8 match, but since Scott led going into the segment, he won one more time.

Once again, Scott racked up a strong total by the end of the second round, $23,200, but it wasn’t enough for a runaway. Still, his knack for nailing Final Jeopardy got him an extra $13,201, which brings his 4-day total to an impressive $132,402.

Dan was close with $18,200 but his right answer wasn’t enough to take him over the top. He still earned an extra $5,001 and ends up in second place with $23,201.

Elise only had $2,200 and wagered $2,000. She boosted up to $4,200 for third.

Final Jeopardy Answer for July 8

The correct answer for Final Jeopardy on July 8, 2025 is “What is The Old Man and the Sea?”

Ernest Hemingway wrote the novella “The Old Man and the Sea” in 1952. It’s recognized as one of his last, if not the last, major works from the author. The work won the Pulitzer Price for Fiction in 1953 and was specifically cited when Hemingway won the Noble Prize in Literature in 1954.

Near the beginning of the novel, an old man suggests that going turtle-ing is “what kills the eyes,” but then a boy says that the old man “went turtle-ing for years off the Mosquito Coast and your eyes are good.” Since the Mosquito Coast is another name of the western shore of the Caribbean Sea, that could help the contestants figure this out.
