Amazon Prime Video’s new TV and movie releases for the week of August 24 to August 30, 2026, include The Last Sunrise and others.

The Last Sunrise is an upcoming romantic drama directed by Carlson Young. The film is adapted from Anna Todd’s 2025 novel of the same name. It follows the story of a college student named Ry who is dealing with chronic health issues. Soon, she and her mother reach Mallorca during the summer, when Ry falls in love with a charming local. However, her health conditions and family secrets threaten to shatter her happiness. The film features Maia Reficco, Fernando Lindez, Eva Longoria, Andrés Velencoso, and many others in key roles.

Todd, who worked as a producer on the film “while writing the novel simultaneously,” teased that the movie has “some fun changes” from the book that bring “the world to life.” (via Entertainment Weekly). Longoria, who plays Ry’s mother, also praised the movie. “What I love most about The Last Sunrise is that it’s a beautiful summer romance with a deeper message about living in the moment,” she told EW. Longoria added, “At its heart, it’s about love, self-discovery, and finding joy even in uncertain times.”

Also coming to Prime Video is Nickel Boys. Directed by RaMell Ross, the historical drama is based on Colson Whitehead’s 2019 novel, The Nickel Boys. It chronicles the adventures of Elwood and Turner, two African-American boys in a brutal reform school in 1960s Florida. The star cast includes Ethan Herisse, Brandon Wilson, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Hamish Linklater, among others, in important roles. The film received positive reviews and earned numerous accolades, including two Oscar nominations.
