En Vogue Alum Dawn Robinson Says She's Been Living in Her Car for Past 3 Years

Dawn Robinson is clarifying her recent comments.

The En Vogue alum made headlines recently after she revealed she has been living out of her car since March 2022, but the singer wants everyone to know that she chose this living situation.

"I want to make it clear: I am not homeless," Dawn said in a statement to People. "I am temporarily choosing car life as part of my journey of healing and self-discovery."

"I took a risk and jumped headfirst into this lifestyle, and WOW, what a crazy, fun, sometimes scary ride it’s been," she continued. "For me, failure is NOT an option. Being vulnerable sucks, but here I GROW. This is about embracing freedom, trusting the process, and finding strength in the unexpected."

The "Don't Let Go" hitmaker—who exited En Vogue in 1997, but returned to the group in 2002 before leaving again in 2008—also explained that "sometimes in life, we end up in situations that we weren’t expecting," and the growth and self-discovery that comes from those times of uncertainty can be rewarding.

"There’s something we need to learn or teach, but we’re too afraid to push ourselves out of our comfort zones to do it," Dawn said, "so the universe does it for us! During this growth period, we either learn to trust ourselves or give in to fear and fail."

The 58-year-old went on to issue a warning to her fans and followers to beware of any online funds claiming to be raising money for her.

As she put noted, "I want to be clear: I have not authorized any fundraising campaigns, and I do not want anyone—especially my loyal fans—to be scammed or taken advantage of."

"Your love and support mean the world to me, and I want to ensure that your kindness is not misused," she continued. "Please be cautious and do not send money to anyone claiming to act on my behalf."

Dawn's statement comes after she shared with the world that she had been living in her car for the past three years, which followed a couple of years in which she hopped between various living situations that didn't pan out.

"It's an adventure," she said in her March 11 YouTube video. "I'm in the trenches of this right now, and I wouldn't trade my experiences and what I've gone through for the world."

Dawn added, "My aim is to inspire and let people know that you’re capable of anything no matter what the odds are against you."

Hanson

Far out, man. The Hanson brothers joined the ranks of fellow '90s boy bands with hit song, "MMMBop." Hanson released an album together in 2013 before brothers Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Zac Hanson went their separate ways for solo careers—and in Taylor's case, raising seven kids! Thankfully, our favorite bros reunited in 2018 for album String Theory and are back on tour through 2022.

Yep, Nick Lachey was in a boy band and we're burning up way past 98 Degrees just thinking about it. Joined by Drew Lachey and Justin Jeffre, music producers Lachey and Jeff Timmons formed the group after leaving college to pursue music careers in the '90s.

New Kids On the Block

New Kids On the Block skyrocketed to fame in the late 1980s and the group reunited in 2011 for a throwback tour with The Backstreet Boys.

Original NKOTB members were brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood. The group broke up in 1994 but then reunited several years later and went on tour with the Backstreet Boys in 2011. Not surprisingly, that tour announcement pretty much broke the Internet. They are still performing today.

One of the best bands to ever come out of a singing competition series, One Direction took over the planet in the 2010s.
