On Dancing with the Stars this week, pro Jenna Johnson and her celeb partner Harry Shum, Jr. were criticized for having a lift in their dance.

“I think you need to put more content in your dances. Especially because [Harry’s] so good, I want to see you challenge yourself a little bit more in the vein of what we’re looking for. And there was a lift,” Carrie Ann noted, to which Jenna acted confused and said, “A lift?”

Carrie Ann then read a rule: “A lift is — I just need to say it — any movement during which one of the dancers has both feet off the floor at the same time with the assistance or support of their partner. Yeah, lift.”

Val, Jenna‘s husband, later reportedly uploaded a social media post that said, “You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night,” to defend his wife. Many took this as a reference to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.

Carrie Ann saw another celeb news website repost Val‘s comments, with a side by side of Val, Will Smith, and the Oscars slap. Carrie Ann did not seem happy.

“So this is what we are doing now?” she wrote on her Instagram Story. She also posted it to her own grid, writing, “…thank you @pagesix and @entertainmentweekly for bringing this to my attention.”
