It looks like Dexter: Resurrection season 2 will bring back two iconic characters from the original show. The second season of the sequel series is currently in production.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 might feature major character returns

The update comes from a behind-the-scenes peek by director Marcos Siega (via CBR). The image shows a picture of a video call on a laptop, with various headshots of different actors from the show in the background. The photo is from a post-production editing bay, with text on the photo reading, “Editing episode 201 with the incredible Perri Frank.”

The background includes photos of two fan-favourite Dexter characters who seem to be returning for season 2. This includes David Zayas and Eric Stonestreet.

Zayas played Angel Batista during the entire run of the original Dexter. The character died in the first season of Dexter: Resurrection season 1. If Zayas is returning for season 2, it seems like Batista will return in a flashback. However, it’s more likely that Batista will haunt Dexter’s visions during the season.

Stonestreet played one of Dexter’s first antagonists from Dexter Resurrection, the serial killer known as “Rapunzel”. The character is one of the few antagonists who has escaped Dexter’s wrath, so it seems that the second season will circle back to Dexter dealing with unfinished business.

The original Dexter ran for 8 seasons, with a follow-up show, Dexter: New Blood, which itself had 10 episodes. Dexter: Resurrection is the latest instalment in the franchise, continuing Michael C. Hall’s portrayal of the vigilante serial killer.

Clyde Phillips serves as showrunner and executive producer. The series is produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. It is executive-produced by Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Marcos Siega serves as the producing director.

Dexter: Resurrection is streaming on Prime Video.
