Clayface Box Office Update Offers Good News for DCU Movie Despite Disappointing Projections

Orgo-Life the new way to the future

Clayface’s opening weekend box office projections aren’t looking great, but a new update does provide some good news for the DCU movie. Starring Tom Rhys Harries as the titular Batman villain, the movie opens in United States theaters this weekend from Warner Bros. Pictures.

Clayface is currently tracking to earn around $20 million domestically during its opening weekend. That number isn’t huge, though it’s important to remember that the movie only has a budget that is reportedly in the $30 million range, making it much cheaper than some bigger-budget DC superhero movies like Superman.

The good news is that, according to Deadline, “presales have picked up for the film in the last two days.” If that trend continues, Clayface could end up earning more than its projected $20 million this weekend, though where exactly it lands remains to be seen. It faces competition from Nathan Fielder’s You Can See Everything, as that made more than expected this past weekend and is set to expand to even more theaters.

Clayface may end up making less than Supergirl did during its opening weekend

DC Studios’ other big 2026 theatrical release was Supergirl, which drastically underperformed at the box office. That movie, starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, was initially estimated to make somewhere between $40-55 million during its opening weekend, but then only made $38 million domestically. In total, Supergirl grossed $72.4 million in the United States and Canada, while its worldwide total came in at $126.4 million.

One thing that certainly could impact Clayface’s box office chances is word of mouth, as it remains to be seen where the film will fall on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer. Good reviews from critics could further boost box office sales, while negative reviews could actively harm the movie’s chances to be a hit.

Having already premiered in Los Angeles last week, Clayface arrives in United States theaters on October 23, 2026.
