DC Studios’ upcoming Booster Gold TV series is making some promising progress. There have been no major updates on the project until now despite being first announced in January 2023.

What is the update on the Booster Gold DCU TV show?

David Jenkins, who was hired to write the Booster Gold series last year, has revealed that he has handed in his script for the pilot episode. Taking to Bluesky, Jenkins wrote, “Just handed the Booster Gold pilot in. I love it. One of my favorite pilot scripts.” Jenkins previously wrote and created Our Flag Means Death and People of Earth.

Submitting a pilot script doesn’t guarantee a full series order, but it’s good progress. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has maintained that the studio won’t greenlight a project until they’re happy with a script. Until a few months ago, rumours of the show’s cancellation made the rounds on social media. Most recently, Gunn clarified that the show is in development, along with Paradise Lost.

Booster Gold follows Michael Jon “Booster” Carter, a disgraced college football star from the year 2442 who travels back in time to the modern day and uses his technology to become a superhero. DC Studios has not yet announced a casting for the role, but fans have already started predicting who might play him. Booster Gold was previously played by Eric Martsolf in Smallville and by Donald Faison in Legends of Tomorrow.

The first TV series from DC Studios will be Lanterns, which will stream on HBO Max later this year. The studio also confirmed that it starts filming the Gorilla Grodd or Jimmy Olsen show shockingly soon. Creature Commandos Season 2 is also in development.

Booster Gold remains in development at DC Studios. A release date has not been announced for the series.
