One of the most iconic sci-fi movie trilogies of all time will soon begin streaming on Netflix. The Back to the Future trilogy, featuring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Emmett “Doc” Brown, will soon become available on the streaming giant. The original Back to the Future film premiered in 1985, followed by Back to the Future Part II in 1989, and Back to the Future Part III in 1990. All three movies were massively successful, both with critics and general audiences. Over time, they have greatly influenced global pop culture.

Back to the Future trilogy releasing on Netflix in November

All three Back to the Future movies will become available for streaming on Netflix on November 1, 2025. Some of the other movies that will start streaming on the platform that day are Crazy Rich Asians, Doctor Sleep, Paddington 2, Ready Player One, Tenet, The Hangover trilogy, This Is the End, and Wonka, among other titles.

Besides Fox and Lloyd, the cast of the first Back to the Future movie includes Lea Thompson as Lorraine Baines McFly, Crispin Glover as George McFly, Thomas F. Wilson as Biff Tannen, and Claudia Wells as Jennifer Parker. In the first sequel, Jeffrey Weissman and Elisabeth Shue replaced Glover and Wells as their respective characters. Both Weissman and Shue reprised their roles in the third movie.

The plot of the Back to the Future trilogy revolves around Marty and Doc Brown’s time-traveling adventures. In the first movie, Marty ends up in 1955 and runs into the younger versions of his parents, but interrupts their first meeting. As he tries to return to the future, he must figure out a way to get them together. The second movie predominantly takes place in 2015, while the third installment takes the plot to the late 19th century.

Robert Zemeckis directed the Back to the Future movies and penned the screenplay for the first with Bob Gale, who wrote the scripts for the remaining two films.
