With spring in full bloom and summer around the corner, it’s time to bring out the garden decor. Along with our beaded decorative garden stakes, we’ve decided to craft up something new to the mix. The beauty of this garden sparkler is that there are tons of different bead options and color choices so it can be made to suit your individual taste.

How to Make a Beaded Garden Sparkler

These step by step photos and instructions are here to help you visualize how to make this project. Please scroll down to simply print out the instructions!

1. Sort beads into piles by size, color, and shape.
2. Using wire cutters, cut 8 pieces of 18 gauge wire into lengths ranging from 7” to 9” long.
3. Working one strand at a time, begin threading the beads onto the wire. Start with a lighter-weight bead on the end, fold back the threaded wire, and twist around above the bead.

   

4. Add more beads to the strand covering the folded end of the wire.
5. After threading about 4 beads, place a mini spacer bead.

   

6. Continue adding more beads to the wire with a mix of color, size, and shape.
7. After every grouping of 4-6 beads, place another mini spacer bead.
8. Reserve the heavier weighted beads for the top of the strands.
9. Once the strand is full, use the pliers to clamp down on the mini spacer keeping about 1” of space between the bead groupings.

   

   

10. Continue with the remaining strands of wire changing the amount and mix of beads for each strand.

    

11. Next, overlap the unbeaded ends of the wire strands with the top of the plant stake. Cut another piece of 18 gauge wire and wrap the ends to the stake as shown.

    

12. To finish the look, wrap a piece of brown cording over top of the wrapped wire using hot glue to help hold the ends in place. Knot off and secure before clipping the ends of the cording.

    

13. Cut another piece of wire about 4” long and thread the heavier weighted beads onto the wire, securing the top bead in place. Insert the cut end of the wire into the top of the plant stake to complete the waterfall garden accessory.

• Beads can be found at craft stores in the jewelry aisle and come in many different ranges of sizes, colors, and shapes. You can also find them at garage sales, thrift stores, or use repurposed jewelry you already have on hand.
