Ballard Season 2 has cast a new actor to portray a young Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch, replacing Titus Welliver in flashback sequences. This marks the first time Amazon has brought in another performer to play the character, opening a new chapter in the Bosch franchise.

Prime Video cast Jack Meade-Mullarkey, known for his roles in Vikings and Warrior Nun, in Ballard Season 2. In an exclusive from ComicBookResource, sources confirmed that the actor will portray a younger version of Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch. This marks the first time Amazon has brought in another performer to play the character in flashbacks. Titus Welliver, who originated the role in Bosch (2014–2021) and continued in Bosch: Legacy (2022–2025), remains part of the franchise. He has scaled back his on-screen presence to only a handful of episodes.

Meade-Mullarkey earned recognition for playing Michael Salvius, also known as Miguel, in the second season of Warrior Nun. The role expanded his following. His casting marks a major development in the Bosch universe. Prime Video canceled Bosch: Legacy in April 2025 after three seasons. Welliver expressed his disappointment over the decision at the time, stating to ScreenRant, “I don’t feel good about it at all. When you play a character for as long as I’ve played Bosch, despite the fact this is a fictional character, you can’t help but form a bond with that character.”

Season 2 of Ballard will incorporate flashback sequences that explore the formative years of both Bosch and Renée Ballard, portrayed by Maggie Q. The Bosch: Legacy finale already set up these storylines by connecting Ballard and Bosch in a crossover scene. This approach lets Amazon maintain Bosch’s presence while adapting to Welliver’s limited availability and creating opportunities for future spin-offs.

Amazon declined to comment when asked for confirmation, stating they had no news to share about the series. The studio has not released production details for Ballard Season 2. Viewers can stream all entries in the Bosch franchise, including Bosch, Bosch: Legacy, and Ballard, on Prime Video.
