Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayFriends and The Morning Show actress Jennifer Aniston has been tapped to star in a new Apple TV+ series inspired by Jennette McCurdy’s memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died.
The streaming giant has given the series a 10-episode order, which will star Aniston as McCurdy’s “domineering mother.” McCurdy is best known for her role as Sam Puckett in Nickelodeon’s teen sitcom iCarly and its spin-off Sam & Cat, opposite Ariana Grande as Cat Valentine from Victorious.
What is I’m Glad My Mom Died about?
McCurdy published her memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died in 2022 with Simon & Shuster, in which she recounts her life and career as a child actress as well as her psychologically abusive relationship with her mother who passed away in 2013. The memoir also explores her struggles with addiction and eating disorders.
Per Variety’s report, the Apple TV+ series will follow the “heartbreaking and hilarious recounting of Jennette McCurdy’s struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother (Aniston). The dramedy will center on the the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid’s show, and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as ‘a starlet’s mother.’”
I’m Glad My Mom Died will mark Aniston’s latest project with the streamer, following the Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated The Morning Show, which will launch its fourth season later this year. McCurdy and Ramy’s Ari Katcher are the new show’s writers, executive producers, and showrunners, while Aniston will serve as one of the executive producers.
Aniston is also known for her roles in Office Space, The Good Girl, Marley & Me, Horrible Bosses, We’re the Millers, Murder Mystery, and more.
Other details about I’m Glad My Mom Died have yet to be announced.
