Andrew Garfield says he’d need Spider-Man to get “very odd” if he were to play the character again.
The 42-year-old two-time Academy Award nominee was asked about returning to the web-swinging role during an interview with The Playlist published on Monday (August 3) and shared what it would take to make him suit up again.
“I would need it to be very, very odd,” Andrew said. “I would need it to be very strange, and I would need it to be completely unconventional and almost — I wouldn’t say boring — but I would want it to be just completely unexpected, like a genre of Spider-Man that you’ve never seen before, that feels very left field.”
He provided “a road trip movie” as an example of something he would be interested in doing.
Last year, during the Middle East Film & Comic Con he also said he would “love to play the character again in some capacity,” but only if it was “very weird.”
“I would want to do something very unique and offbeat and surprising,” the Hacksaw Ridge star said at the time.
Andrew last played Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside previous Spidey star Tobey Maguire and the MCU’s current Spider-Man, Tom Holland.
However, he has already dismissed theories that he might be back for Avengers: Doomsday and he wasn’t in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Tom Holland has starred as Spider-Man in seven MCU films thus far and this is what Sony and Marvel bosses have had to say about his future as the character.
