Netflix is removing all four seasons of a well-received sports sitcom from its library next month. The show centers on a former baseball announcer whose life crumbles following an on-air meltdown after learning about his wife’s infidelity.

Brockmire is leaving Netflix next month

Brockmire Seasons 1-4 is set to exit Netflix on Thursday, June 4, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix).

Joel Church-Cooper developed the show for IFC (formerly Independent Film Channel) and based it on a character created by Hank Azaria, who plays the titular character. Reportedly, Mets broadcaster Bob Murphy and Yankees’ Phil Rizzuto served as inspiration for the character (via Sports Illustrated).

Long before the character was adapted into a series, the Emmy-winning actor first played the role on Funny Or Die’s series called Gamechangers in 2010. He later reprised the role on the NFL Network’s The Rich Eisen Podcast multiple times for the NFL season.

The show centers on Jim Brockmire, a once-famous baseball announcer. His career implodes after he gets drunk and has a mental breakdown during a match. Ten years later, he attempts a comeback, announcing games for a minor league baseball team in Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, he also tries to revive his love life, falling for Jules James, the owner of the Morristown Frackers.

The show premiered on April 5, 2017, with two back-to-back episodes. It ran for four seasons, with its finale titled “The Long Offseason” airing on May 6, 2020. Its cast also features Amanda Peet as Jules, Tyrel Jackson Williams as Charles, J. K. Simmons as Matt “The Bat” Hardesty, Tawny Newsome as Gabby, and Reina Hardesty as Beth, among others.

Throughout its run, Brockmire consistently received an overwhelmingly positive reception. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a critics’ approval rating of 98% and a user score of 83% for all four seasons. On Metacritic, it showcases a weighted-average critics’ score of 83 and a user score of 7.1.
