The final dance of the night featured a special dedication to late actor Heath Ledger.

His 10 Things I Hate About You co-star Julia Stiles honored him with her “Dedication Night” performance on Tuesday night’s (October 20) episode of Dancing with the Stars.

At the end of the dance, an emotional voice message from Julia played as she looked at a photo of Heath on the screen and placed a rose on a stair. Then, their co-stars Joseph Gordon Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Andrew Keegan, Susan May Pratt, and Gabrielle Union joined her on stage for a special moment all together.

During her dance, Julia and her pro partner, Ezra Sosa, performed a contemporary routine set to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli.

“I learned a lot from Heath… It was so easy with him. I have so many great memories. I really wish I could pick up the phone, and be like, ‘Hey dude,’” she said in her rehearsal package before the dance.

Prior to the episode, Julia opened up about rehearsals for the emotional dance.

“I’m actually surprised at how emotional it’s been,” she told People.

“I know from watching the show how emotional Dedication Night is. It’s always very personal stories. But I thought, ‘Oh, I’m distanced enough from it. The movie was so many years ago,’” Julia continued. “But something about watching clips from that movie, seeing our pictures, hearing our voices is bringing up a lot.”

“I really feel how important it is to honor him,” she added of her late co-star. “He lives on because his performance in that film was so incredible.”

During last week’s show, Julia recreated a dance from another one of her fan-favorite movies, Save the Last Dance.
